passport

We are going to Austria in May for 3 weeks, but our passports expire in July, my neighbour informs me that this is ok as long as you are a uk/eu resident. Can anyone advise please

many thanks

You can of course apply for one before you go away - they recommend at least four weeks before!

Look here: https://www.ips.gov.uk/epa1r1a/NoCookies.aspx

I would get a new one. Sometimes if there is less than 6 months vailidity you can have problems. Although you do not need a passport to cross borders inside Schengen countries, you still by law need to have it available at all times. You also may need to use it for identification.

You have time so get a replacement.

And if you get a new one early then the Passport Office adds the unexpired portion to the new one, so you can have your new passport for (say) 10 years and 3 months!
