Lol, I cant believe how tetchy everyone is over this.

there was no argument on air, it was just a simple cocky comment which raised a chuckle or two, i have made far worse, i found nothing offensive here.

Shady, if you have never argued over a map or reversing or even setting the van up then i admire you, dont forget though, arguing sucks, but the making up afterwards is awesome!! lol.

just remember everyone, it was simply 4 minutes of filler on a poxy show hosted by an old drag queen. no harm was done here, to us or our reputation, because lets face it, we are all hated by the average motorist anyway, but when i am driving away for yet another break they can all go to hell and think what they want, i will not lose a wink of sleep in my lovely van.

There have been over 20 postings made on this subject so far and the majority have been critical of the programme and the manner in which caravanning was portrayed by Doug and his wife. I think therefore that Nigel and the team at Practical Caravan should make an effort to try and be given some live television coverage in an attempt to show caravanning in its true perspective and invite members of the caravan fraternity along to put over the merits of this form of holidaying. It is not necessary to have representation from magazines, clubs, manufacturers, etc. - it is the caravan public who will give the right impression as they are the ones who have the enjoyment of their holiday. To date the TV media seem to have it in for caravanners and ridicule them as much as possible. So come on PC pull your finger out and try and do something positive for a change.

Well said Colin.

I thought Nigel's post was indication that something positive would be said about caravanning especially with "our Doug" on board!

Apart from the TG spoof I've not seen anything much about caravans or any positive TV reporting on Caravanning for a long time if ever.

I just can't see the point of an insider taking part in yesterdays nonsense.

People, I think it's time to let this thread die a death. I'm terrified that one of the audience might stumble across this forum and read the topic, proving to them the stereotype of caravanners, a load of boring old farts with nothing better to do than moan about a map reading comment :O)

After earlier asking if anyone watched the Paul O'Grady show I inadvertently found a repeat on one of the channels and felt duty bound to watch. What a waste of time - very little to do with caravanning, which, although not the butt of many jokes on this occasion, were done no favours by the couple chosen to put the case for caravanners. To find that they basically represent PC was beyond belief. We're not all like that despite our ages.

LMAO at this thread!!

Just back from a coupla nights away in the caravan and watched this program while away. We hever never watched the Paul O'Grady show before and wouldn't bother again. Only watched it in anticipation of the report on the joys of caravanning as posted by Nigel. It sadly forced us to watch nearly an hours worth of drivel only to end up with a final 4 minutes of even more drivel.

I agree with most of the posts above - pointless and a waste of time.

I wish this forum had the facility to insert animated giif's to show how excited and happy we are.

I love forums that have flashing lights and sparkly things to liven up the posts.
