my husband is disabled and after watching the promo video for the pdq awnings, thought it would be ideal for us.However, when I rang my local caravan dealer,I was informed that he didnt stock nor would he supply them due to the returns from problems with them.I asked what the problems were and they ranged from stitching to poles causing damage whilst in transit.I was wondering whether this was a minority or a more general experience from people who have purchased them

I would appreciate your views and comments please.

Hi Christine, if this is the awning that you leave on the side of the caravan whilst travelling - and has the three poles which insert through channels from the floor to the roof so forming an arch effect. we had one and I must say I was glad to see the back of it.. It refused to stay up even on a flat surface the poles would not give. a slight bit of wind and the straps flapped all the time. it would not stay fixed to the side of the van. and rolling it up after use was a complete nightmare..i for one would give it a miss ... We now have a small porch awning (suncamp) which we use, its easy to put up 15 mins top and i can do it on my own .. a lot easier..

hi carmen thanks for your response. This one does travel attatched to side of van but is square when erected. We do have a porch awning which I put upfairly easily but I struggle at times when theres a breeze due my to shoulder problems. The ease at which the PDQ goes up is what attracted me although there was no video on the dismantling aspect.your problems tho are fairly near to what my caravn stockist has mentioned

Hi Alan & Christine. We were considering buying one of these but decided against it due to its size didn't suit our van (would have crossed a window). I would just like to point out to you that it does need two people to roll it back which may or may not be a problem to you. We ended up buying a Royal Windsor that is possibly the one Carmen is describing (oh dear!). See my posting "bag awnings" on 22/2/09. Cheers.

Hi Carmen. Was yours by chance the Royal Windsor 390? If so would you please take a look at my previous posting "bag awnings" dated 22/2/09. Thanks.

hi re pdq awning, three words dont buy one.we had one but it damaged the side of our new van because it flapped about in the wind, the bag filled up with rain water and evetually it ripped.the manufactuer refused to do anything about it,i even took it to my local discover for them to pick it up but they refused.the manufactuer even denied they had problems but ive read many threads on here mostly unhappy.my awning is still in discover because its of no use to me

as said in previous questions about the pdq awning, they really

are a waste of time Ihave used mine twice last year and now its

sitting in my garage and it will probably still be there this

time next year (unless any of you want to buy it)lol. another

thing is will the awning rail take the weight if it stays

permanently on the side, surely after a length of time the

sealant would give
