When I was a student, (a long time ago) I made ends meet by working in a Revlon cosmetics factory in the holidays. Anyway, if marker ink got on the conveyor belts from the "batching" machine then we used to clean it off with Charlie perfume. I think it was the alcohol in it that did the job. I guess any perfume would do. May not be the cheapest option but one squirt from some perfume that is languishing in a drawer may do the trick. As they always say, test a small area first......

Tonight, I shall be trying the surgical spirit method. If that doesn't work, I will then try the methylated spirits method. If that doesn't work, I'll try some cheap perfume.

Thanks for the replies.

Well, there's been a development.

I sent my personal shopper to the chemist to buy surgical spirit but unfortunately my personal shopper asked for methylated spirit and he left the shop in embarrassment, after the poor shop assistant said they'd never sold methylated spirit.

So after a telephone conversation with said personal shopper, he has just phoned to inform me that nail varnish remover has done an excellent job.

Thanks for everyone's help.

If you get another marker and go over the same lines you should be able to rub it off...

Try a small amount first..

Slightly off topic, but I was verry impressed with a stain remover we bought as part of a pack at the Caravan show. It was from the people who do the eco friendly blue loo liquid, ( sorry cant remember their name). I had spilled a large ampont of coffee over the backs of the cushions (we turn them over when making the bed up), this was back in March, and I had tried a few cleaners, but none effective. One good spray with the cleaner, left to dry naturally, and stain gone!!! Very impressed. Though the spillage did put an end to my coffee in bed!!!
