Why is there so much doom and gloom about these days? Whenever a report is produced it is always putting the state of the country/finance/industry in the doldrums. Wouldn't it be nice to read a report whereby good is predicted. All these reports are based on crystal ball gazing and statistics - where are the optimists? As Sir Winston Churchill once commented "there are lies, damn lies and statistics". I attended a seminar yesterday on the proposed changes to the Building Regulations. One section coming up for renewal was on thermal insulation. If I was to believe all the comments on CO2 emissions and the predictions of the impurities in the atmosphere within the next 10 years I might just as well go out and enjoy what is left of my life and to hell with my carbon footprint. How on earth can a new building have a 0 rate carbon footprint which they are hoping to achieve by 2015?

I want to be an optimist and predict good things and that there is a life out there to enjoy.

Colin, there is so much gloom and doom , mainly spread by tree huggers, and latched on to by Governments to enable them to raise as much tax as they can,and blame Global Warming.
All the cuts in CO2 that were made over the last 20 or more years were wiped out in one fell swoop by the Icelandic Vocano a while ago.

Sadly nothing can be left to nature any more, SOMEONE has to be to blame for everything, and blaming things leads to excuses to tax, and tax, and tax again.
No one can have an accident any more, it is the fault of someone or something else, never the person themselves.

I am glad I am at my time in life and not just starting out,,,,,or I would think about an exit strategy
