Oh Jackie you'll have me in tears soon. I know exactly how you feel.I don't know what it is about dogs, but that unconditional love they give you is wonderful. I wouldn't be without my dogs and I worry terribly about them if there is anything wrong. I do hope your Mia will get over this and be back to her normal bouncy self. How old is she? My vet said that Jodie at 7 was the usual age for ligament problems. I met another Retriever owner at the Hydrotherepy unit whose dog also was there due to cruciate injury and she was the same age. She was bouncing around like a rubber ball which gives a lot of hope. My vet also said that Jodie was on the limit for the type of operation he was able to do. She is small for a Retriever and weighs about 28kgs (about 5 stone i think), otherwise she would have been sent to Swansea for the op and I wouldn't have seen her for a week. So I guess this is where the extra expense comes from. Do keep me posted to Mia's progress.

From Gill - Mikes wife

Hi Gill,

Mia turned 2 at the end of February a few days before she had her first operation. I wasn`t told there was a usual age i must admit but 2 people i know who`s dogs have just had the second op have dogs same age as Mia. I wonder if it`s because they`re Rottweilers and their weight makes a difference. You`ve got me thinking now so i`ll ask the specialist on Wednesday and let you know what he says.

They are such a worry aren`t they. Like you say though that unconditional love is wonderfull :))

Hi Jackie and Steve

Having had a look at what M&S can offer for pet insurance I am now strongly leaning towards them. I telephone them today and was really pleased on how they answered my queries (following my check on the internet). It seems too good to be true and I am now waiting for the 'new client pack' to land over our doorstep in order to compare it to my current policy. Many thanks for the information. It will save me OVER

Hi Ann,

I agree about it being too good to be true as i thought the same. I am soooo glad i changed. I`ve not seen another company that offers no excess with the good cover with such low premiums. I don`t think it can be beaten. I`ve had no problems with the claims i`ve put in which total just over 3k since i`ve been with them(9 months) and next week i`ll be putting in another claim for another cruciate operation on her other leg which will be about 2k.

I`m sure if you take out the policy you won`t be dissapointed.

Good luck :)

Jackie

I haven't yet decided on which insurance (pet) to take out. Still looking. Has anyone insured their pet "That's more than lucky!". I would be interested to know details of the high street store with no excess!
its the store that has the really lovely food adverts.im with them claimed 3 times in the last year payout with no fuss, usually within 2 weeks and no excess.i have a 1 year old show quality staffie and she cost me 10.64 per month its worth it.

Thanks again everyone. Done it!!! Gone with M&S! I can't see how they can be beaten. Told my daughter to have a look on their web site (her insurance on two pets (dog and cat) is due for renewal). Just thought I'd let you all know.

Hi Lord B

Check the Tesco policy very carefully. This is NOT a policy FOR LIFE! We found out during our first year with them that my lovely little Cairn Terrier, Maisie, was suffering from a serious (life long) eye problem. She was only covered for the year and we could not claim any more for her medication (

Well, thanks for your comments with regards to your M&S quotes, I have been doing some research into why my M&s quote is a higher price than yourselfs.(
