Petrol on Sundays

I am travelling from Roscoff to the Dordogne on a Sunday. I am a bit worried that I won't be able to refuel as the petrol stations will be closed. Does anyone know if there are petrol stations open on Sundays along this route.

Adrian, I drive regularly on a Sunday from Cherbourg to Dordogne and further south. All services on Autoroutes are open and I have found that large fuel stations in towns are open and staffed.

Looking at your possible route Rennes, Le Mans, Potiers etc. I forsee no problems.

The French unmanned pumps are being adapted to take UK cards, so you should have no prob's, however personally I try to find a fuel supply when i get to half full, not always successful, once I came unstuck as lightening storms had knocked out the filling stations for a large area!

Adrian, I asked the same question on here recently and got some reassuring replies -

We are trevelling on Sunday 3rd August and back again on Sunday 17th August. Does anyone know if these are French national holiday dates?

Cheers, Martin.
Martin - I replied on your earlier posts and can confirm that I travelled up the A16 yesterday (Sunday) and looked over at the service stations - they were open! The one on the A16 southbound not far from Calais which I mentioned to you is 'Total'.

Hi Lesley - I remember your replies to my question - thanks for taking the trouble they were very helpful. I just wasnt sure whether the dates we were travelling on were national holiday dates in France as its seems these days may be the only ones where there may be a problem - dont think any actual dates were mentioned in the original thread. Regards, martin
