Hya, i called camping and caravan club insurance today and i have just bought a twin axle bailey and YOU DO NOT need to have a tracker installes for their 4 star cover

Sparkle

Im afraid your wrong, they wouldnt insure me without Tracker and secure storage because i made a claim 2 yrs ago.

So i presume you havent made a claim?

Hi Lisa,

We have a Fleetwood Heritage with a Metis Tracker, this is Sold Secure the same as Phanton but has no annual cost, like you we could'nt afford to pay out the high annual cost. we got 25% discount with towergate and also Safeguard.

From an insurance perspective there is no question that insurers are driving the increased level of security now required, possibly because they are the ones paying out for stolen caravans. Whilst I accept these increased costs inevitably get passed on in terms of increased premiums insurers will always want to write the better risks.

The massive reduction in caravan theft in recent years is due in no small part to improved security and manufacturers such as Swift are to be congratulated for the pro-active approach they have taken, many others do the same. The AL-KO chassis wheel lock, often criticised on twin axles has been a fantastic success as have pro active trackers such as Phantom and Metis.

Towergate Bakers offer a 25% for the Al-Ko wheel lock and a further 25% for a Phantom or Metis pro-active tracker.

They have been out for a few years they also jam gsm.

I dont rely on just my tracker,i still have all the normal high quality locks etc.

Its always been the case if they want the van not matter what protection they will take it.

Would like to add to the Tracker debate.

I got a phone call from Tracker at 1.30 in the morning saying my alarm had been activated.

I went to check on my van in its storage location on a farm to find the wheelclamp and hitchlock in bits on the floor and 3 corner steadies wound up.

No one around but an attempted theft had taken place, the van has no damage but without Tracker they would surely have been successful.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

I'm all for the tracker.

Also good for catching out dealers who tell you fibs about work being done on your van when its actually sitting in the yard for four days.

We knew exactly when it was wheeled into the workshop because the tracker was activated lol, I actually rang them to let them know I was aware work was just starting!
