Phoenix 640 + Tyre Pressure? Post Storage Checks?

Hi all.

My Phoenix 640+ has been in on site storage for around six months. I’m in Bristol, picking up tomorrow from Devon. Can anyone advise:

- Tyre PSI. I’ve found 60 psi however, that sounds high?
- Any other pre Tow checks, when considering the six month storage period?

All comments welcome.

Cheers!

What does the owners manual say? 60 psi is not uncommon. The label by the door normally showed inflation pressure.

Noseweight, lights, clean stabiliser pads, hitch and towball. Check hitch attached by lowering nose wheel once coupled up. Basically the normal checks you do before any towing. Plus car tyres too.

My 640 is 60psi on the decal by the door (Well it was until I got the weight upgrade, its now 65psi )

A huge "Plus 1" for tyrepal or similar.

Check the general condition of the tyres and torque the wheels if it wasn’t done after your last trip prior to storage. Check battery health if it has been left on the van.

You need to bear in mind that caravans mostly use just two road wheels to support the bulk of the caravan, so their tyres are carrying almost twice the load of a car tyre, and as such they need higher inflation pressures to support the weight.

65 psi here.
You might want to consider getting a TyrePal or other tyre pressure monitoring system at some point. These alert you to pressure drops and punctures before it's too late.
I also believe a TyrePal system , for me is an essential. But if you do fit it, do not get scared by the pressure and temperatures shown, the pressure will rise by about 10 psi and the temps between 5 and 10 c.
