Pitch ing up on site!

My brother arrived in Spain for their yearly outing. He posted this picture for their first site. I wrote and asked him if he was being unsociable. 😏

Has anyone any idea why he has pitched up in that way? He did have a good reason. Lucky for him the continentals don’t worry about getting onto a peg.

Back from my scan. Saturdays are good Cheltenham Hospital is empty.

Answer. They are only there for 2 nights and then want to get away early. So it will be quicker to hitch up.

No, that's the next pitch, you can just make out there is a hedge between them.

They have a Hyundai Tucson, I guess it is out of the picture to the left. Normally he would have been turned 180 degrees. If it was a continental van then it would be correctly orientated.

I once had a very tight site in France. A very tight fit between two trees was. But fine with the mover. Some French people were very impressed. When we were leaving some neighbours offered to assist in getting it out. I held up the controls and they watched in ore. There is a hedge on the far side of the van.

We had a bit of room in front, but nothing like the previous site in the Dordogne.



Our pitch went from the tree in front of the van. Right back to the hedge behind. Equal to 3 large pitches.

But our view from our pitch was this.



Open land to the river, (no camping). Then a beach. How good is that? And it was very cheap.

It’s very similar to where we are going to in September. Near Vitrac on the Dordogne.

We were very near to Le Bugue on a tribuary. So only 25 k from where you are going.

If Oradour-sur-Glane is not too far I highly recomend a visit if you have not done so before.






The site had seen better days, but it suited us as we never use the facilities anyway. The pool was’nt even open, but it needed some work. Nevertheless. The pitch was fantastic. Short walk into town.

Out of sight there is a tree directly in front of the caravan with overhanging branches. Difficulty was moving the caravan so that the over hanging branch did not catch the satellite dome.
Very tricky getting the caravan onto the pitch. No way could we connect out up the caravan and drive out. This was Torredembarra site in Spain.

We tended to go for less crowded sites when abroad. One particularly nice one run by Brits was La Tournerie Ferme near Montignac. Our pitch was enclosed so the dogs could run free and about 1/4 acre.

Unbearable. I lost count of the number of times we had to walk up to the top of the pitch to sit under the shade of the trees. Then walk down again to fetch another cold beer. 😃

Yes we had a Coleman Xtreme 70 quart coolerbox that you could even sit on. But it lived down underneath the caravan with food/drinks etc.🙂

I got put onto a very tight pitch, at Camping Les dunes, in Gravelines, near Dunkirk, whilst motor moving out of the pitch to hook up, the Motor mover failed. Thankfully I had just enough room then to do a couple of forward and back manoeuvres to get off the pitch to catch the ferry. Got home about 2am. Next day found the bolts to the fuse were slack.
