Pitching Awning On A Slope

Hi All,

Due to visit Nicholston Farm in June. Whilst we love the facilities and views and location, the pitches are all sloped.. We would like to take our full awning (size 1100) for oudr Bailey Barcelona. But I'm concerned because of the slope front to back can differ by about 18-24", which means we have a massive gap at one end.

Whilst I appreciate we can move pitches if available, we may well be limited. I've heard suggestions of sliding the awning round to accomadate the slope, but as the awaning is symetrical, won't this make things difficult? Can you not buy awning skirt extensions?

Ive seen some suggestions of purchasing a larger awning but this is not an option for us.

Thanks

The awning will fit ground-to-ground, which on the level means equal amount of awning at each end. On a slope then within reason, you do end up with more at one end than the other. It might look a bit incongruous, but you can adjust the bracket pads to suit and to ensure that roof section of the awning will still slope to shed rain.. If you fitted the awning symmetrically on the van side you would have too much material on the one end and too little on the other, although adjusting the angle of the material between the rail end and ground (more vertical on the big end, more angled on the little end can accommodate some of the difference. Hope that makes sense and is of some help, as it is a couple of days since your posting and the first reply!

Hi alphapets,
the site we are going to in the morning sounds similar, in that it is pretty uneven ground, which often results in the awning being pitched on a slope. When we went last year, we probably had a slope in the region of the sizes you are quoting, and we were able to adjust the awning in the rail, and cheat slightly by using the grey mud skirt more than normal, and the awning fitted fine, and more importantly looked fine from the outside - (there is nothing worse than a wonky looking awning IMO  )
I am sure, with some minor adjustments on the day, your awning will fit fine.
