Hi Gill

I've never stayed at Pnt St Gilles although I've visited the site several times a few years ago whilst staying at Camping Du Letty in Benodet. I found the site rather crowded and with not many facilities.

In my opinion Camping Du Letty is a far nicer site although PSG does have a pool whilst Du Letty only has the river estuary lagoon.

If you've not already found UKcampsite you can find recent reviews of PSG and some of the other Benodet sites here:

I'm sure you'll have a lovely holiday in Benodet whichever site you choose. When our 5 children were yong we returned to Du Letty for a number of years - the children still talk about although they're now aged 21-29 years old!!! Benodet's a magical place and we still think of returning. Our "problem" is that there are so many unvisited places still to see, especially now the kids have "grown and flown" and there's just the 2 of us to entertain. Perhaps we'll return one day!!

I remember the advertising slogan was "Benodet -bonne idee" - that says it all!!.

Regards

Tim

Hi Gill

We have stayed there but it was 7 or 8 years ago. It's a fairly big site with many tour operator's present. The pool area was lovely but sometimes crowded, takeaway was ok but we only used it twice, the shop was fairly well stocked and was ideal if you could'nt be bothered to go out to the supermarket. The toilet blocks were unisex and we chose to use the smaller one as it wasn't so busy...generally both were clean.

Some of the pitches were in avenues that had statics opposite (ours was) and the others were in small paddocks at the front of the site, next to a narrow one way road that runs along the seafront, they may have been slightly more noisy than where we were.

We found this a busy site in a great location as you can walk into Benodet in 20 mins or so, especially useful if you're there on the 15th Aug when they have the firework display. The only problem we had, was driving back into the site when "some people" (usually Brits) were sittng by the bar area in groups and spreading their white plastic chairs halfway across the road, they didn't rush to move when traffic came in. Oh and the pitches up by the bar/pool were quite noisy until around midnight so I'd ask for a quiet pitch if you're going and you should be fine. We had a great holiday there, but the weather for once was perfect for the whole 2 weeks...I wouldn't rule out going again.

We have stayed at Camping de la Piscine near Beg Meil twice since then, quieter, smaller, family owned but you do need to drive or cycle more.

Hope this helps

Julie
