Just wondering how many people have been away this Bank Holiday weekend.

We have, we're going home later today. Had a really nice time, letting the dogs have a good run on the beach, getting out in the open countryside. Nice selection of cheeses and biscuits, and some lovely wine. LOL!

We were away in Cornwall last week, staying with relatives, came back on Saturday. Husband worked yesterday, and spent hours sitting in traffic on the M5 between Devon and Somerset (occupational hazard, he's a lorry driver). We don't generally go away at bank holidays, usually avoiding them like the plague, as we can't stand the crowds everywhere and traffic queues to come home.

Hi Sooze

When we first got a van, we used to go away at BH, then stopped doing it but now we keep the van opposite the sea, we just drive solo. We did ok really because we got there at lunch time on Thursday and left at lunchtime today. No bad traffic queues or anything. Mind you, we were on the beach at 5am and 8pm, best time to go! LOL!

Hi Lisa
Unfortunatley not I'm afraid, I had to work Saturday and SWMBO had to work Monday, but I did take the opportunity to Reseal the awning rail on one side of the van, job well done.
But we are off on the 22nd of this month for five nights, cant wait. Had the van three years now and we are still trying to get a seven nighter in !!!

We went away last Wednesday and came home yesterday and it was cold!!
Needless to say that as we were packing up on Wednesday moring the sun was blazing and there was no arctic wind.
We went to a music festival in Bedfordshire, let's hope for better weather next year.

Got back yesterday after a lovely 5 nights at a CL. Due to work commitments I have to take advantage of the extra day's holiday but by not travelling on the Friday before or the BH itself I don't have a problem with the extra traffic. Unfortunatly I've now exhausted this years leave entitlement, roll on Easter!

We were at a dog agility show just outside of Scunthorpe - along with about 200 other caravans.
Sunday was so windy, one of the trade stand marquees blow over - despite 4 x ratchet straps & heavy ground anchors - thankfully nobody hurt.
Still enjoyed ourselves, despite the glorious bank holiday weather :)

What's a Bank Holiday? Don't think I ever had one in all my working years.

Actually, currently in Spain where the summer holidays offically end this Sunday. The town where we are staying has been having a festival for the last week, so they all feel that 1 day is no where near enough. They have even erected a protable bull ring in the town centre for a bull fight, although I suspect it is mnore show than actual bull fighting. Plenty beer tents though.
