Been out all day at the van, Lunar Venus 570/4 20016, setting it up after hibernation. The heating was very poor, just warm and no more. Tried everything but to no avail, sometimes it kept cutting out, but no faults showing. Very windy up here and still blowing a hooly.

Sounds like one of the 2 heating elements might have blown, not an unheard of occurence, but costly to fix as I believe you can no longer purchase/replace just the element and have to buy a new heat exchanger assembly.

The truma combi boiler 4E is only 1800W on EL2.Gas power is about 4kW. As Mr Plodd says they do tend to pop heater elements .If you run on gas to get the temperature ( even on Mix) then you can cut back to EL2. Unlike the gas side there is no warning code to indicate if an element has blown.
You can still get the heater elements from third party vendors ( the one I use is Thermo technica who supply all sorts of heater elements )
Truma won't supply the heater elements as getting the old ones out can damage the water jacket

I had similar, low heating on electric, eventually the other element went down. Pulled the combi out let my local caravan guy take ielements out as he made a "puller" To remove the units. £50 labour, better than me beating with a hammer.
Refitted and gas leak check.
Elements about £300/ 400

If your going to remove the elements yourself, fill the combi with vinegar soak for an hour, takes the calcium off the elements, easier to remove.
Unfortunately on a Truma combi 4E and 6E the elements are on the outside of the water jacket - you must be thinking of the Truma Ultrastore which is hot water only. PS current price for pair of elements is £150 from Thermo Technica. PPS I am not connected with them in any way

Thanks Ian, thinking about it, more than likely, The elements sit on the outside of the Aluminium liner.
I can recommend Lidl Red wine for , getting things incorrect.

EL2 , which is1800W , EL1 is a mere 900W. the control system will then cycle the heaters on and off once the caravan gets up to the set temperature on EL2 it will get to temperature faster ( if both heater elements are OK)
