Poor TV Reception

I have a 2 1/2 year old Coachman Amara with a Status 530 directional aerial. I have always had a pretty good TV reception at most sites. In September I returned to Old Oaks in Somerset for a week then to Brecon for a week. On previous visits the reception has been fine. Last week I returned to Skegness for a week and on previous visits the TV reception has been fine. Now if I set up the aerial with a maxview reception finder, I can pick up either BBC1/2 and ITV is intermittent or I can get ITV and I lose BBC1 /2. I am forever turning the aerial.

I was wondering whether anyone else is having similar problems.

Depending on which transmiter you have locked onto as there are a few, have a look here @
digitaluk.co.uk it gives a list's of the masts & some will be in ( reception change ) due to switch over.......
We had this problem ourselves last time we were away, ..........

Taff,
Sprocket is absolutely correct. what you will have to do is a complete reinstall.
Its all change now alot of areas are completely digital, and of course when you change location you will have to retune again but the good thing is you should notice a vast improvement in picture quality.

Have you got the switch on your tv handset set in the digital tv position?
Some handsets have a 2 position switch so make sure that it is set correctly to receive digital tv rather than analogue which in some areas has been switched off.
After you have re-tuned your tv set and found the signal there should be no need to turn the aerial.

My OH has always found the Status Aerial useless we always use the Satellite Skybox and Dish. Excellent all of the time all over Europe too.

I have a 2 year old Avtex television and retune DVB on every site. The TV anaolgue no longer works due to the change over.
Thank you for your comments. Looks like a satelite dish.

In the case of the old round 'frisbee' aerials with the spike on top I'd agree, their reliability and usefulness was marginal at best but the newer status 530 aerial is very good.

I agree with Parksy
We have always done most of our caravaning abroad and have used satellite equipment for quite a few years. However this year as well as going abroad we have done several trips in the UK and found the Status directional arial to be very good - even on sites where TV reception is said to be poor. With the switch off of analogue the days of hazey pictures have gone and the picture quality is first class (just like from a satellite!!). I'm not saying in works in all areas, but generally where it was possible to pick up analogue before and it has now been switched off we have found good quality digital through the Status directional arial is available.
In fact, for the UK we have decided to leave the satellite equipment at home in future. If you have a TV set with built in Freeview, all you have to do is plug it into the onboard Status and mains - no add on boxes or cables.
