porch awning help needed

Hi, hope someone can help and make some sense of what I am attempting to explain! We have just purchased a Kampa Vista porch awning after our previous porch, star camp sport plus, broke its sticthing and we obtained a refund.

Both these porches are basically identical, they have the two crossover bendy poles from awning rail to floor, and then one bendy roof pole. The problem we have with both, is that, when it comes to fitting the bendy roof pole, it is simply under far too much tension. Each end of the pole sits in a pocket which rest against the van and then there are clips accross the awning which are supposed to clip over this bendy pole. On the star camp the strain on the pole was so much that it forced itself through the stitching of the pocket. The Kampa, to my dismay , is just the same. We didn't risk attaching all the clips this time. Is it me, am I doing something wrong?? has anyone had similar issues?

Thanks for reading this!

My Porchlite Plus is the same, quite difficult to attach the central clips to the horizontal pole, but have always managed it. Suggest you use strong rubber bands & see if they work "Asparagas" bands come to mind!

I looked at the VistaXL at the NEC & was quite impressed with it; seemed stronger material but still quite light. Was concerned that the windows were only mesh IIRC, wondered if they would let in the rain?

Your report on this would be appreciated.
