Porch Awning & Scratching Window

When we put our porch awning up on our new van, I know that one side of it will cut across a window.

I was planning on using sponges between the edge of the awning and the window to prevent scratching.

Has anyone got any other solutions?

How about a piece of foam pipe lagging, thats what we have used in the past.
