Just bought a 2010 Lunar Lexon 2010 BD we are looking to add a porch awning.

We are looking at a Vango Maldives 400, has anyway got any experience of these awnings for quality and ease of use.

We will mostly be weekend campers.

We bouht a Vango small air porch, 1.5 mertres wide to cover the door for short stays, so impressed we bought a Vango Varkala 420 as well for longer stays, easy to inflate and as all the 5 panels zip out it can be put up without any panels, so not very heavy through the awning rail. Like the pegging system too as you peg the strap and then tighten, only downside is the strap on the floor, which could be a trip hazard to the unwary,we bought both of ours from JR Leisure website, they specialise in new previous years models and give good savings, also worth looking at Attwools website. Not had any problems with the air tubes either.Only drawback I can see with the Maldives is the 300 depth may be tight on some pitches.

It is wise to measure the 400 width along the side of the caravan to make sure this size does not have to sit with the edge down a window, or for example obstruct a locker you need to access like the loo cassette if it's on that side. Also think what you need the space for, we have a 280 (poled) for example that has room for an airing rack, 2 chairs and a small table without obstructing safe access to and from the caravan.

Thanks Rob, the dealer has checked for us and it should fit, we are going to be using it for table and chairs and also to keep 2 dog crates in to suit Labradors.

I checked JR Leisure and they don't seem to have that style in stock, maybe as its a 2020 model. Thanks for pointing us in their direction though, as they seem to have some accessories that we will need at a decent price.

We cannot avoid our porch from going down the front side window. There’s no space between the door edge and the window edge. So before installing it I always wipe the window down as well as the awning foam Contact pad. Poor caravan design that could easily have been alleviated by having a slightly shorter side window on the near side. But there are no marks on the window thus far.
