I have the same fridge as Rod and it is excellent. It will even make ice cubes.

Used it around France last couple of years and it coped easily with the heat.

Use it at home now for beer chilling!

Graeme.

Just to add my pennyworth, we also have a combicool and are really please with it - the only problem is that if it is very full it can get over enthusiastic and freeze things you don't want it to. Only used it in anger on mains, but the gas ran well in test. Don't know about 12 volt, though I wouldn't expect too much.

It is well insulated, and being top opening keeps the cold air in, unlike a front opener.

Has anyone any experience of the Igloo Koolmate 40? It appears to be as big as the Combicool but a lot cheaper. I know it's not 3-way (no gas) but as it cools 23 degrees below ambient temperature it seems to get cooler than the Combicool.

Lack of gas is, of course, what keeps the price down. Unfortunately it means that it is no use unless you have mains hook-up, as 12 volt will drain a battery in a matter of hours - without being very effective at cooling.

We were out in the hottest weather of last summer, and the Combicool was never turned up to full, as this started to freeze the contents!
