Portugal and Spain. We are off (hopefully)!

Well, it looks as if our annual Iberian trip is on. Mid August sailing to Bilbao has the go ahead and our sites are open.
Ferry and sites appear to have good anti virus measures in place.
Doubts, of course, remain but we are both in good health, E 111s still current and we are prepared to take the risk now.
Our reasoning includes the view that, given the scale of infection and death rate in UK, we are unlikely to be at any more risk than staying in UK...barring increased reinfection rates in Spain and Portugal.
Quite happy to quarantine for a fortnight in the unlikely event that requirement is still in place when we return to UK in November.
Red Pennant insurance in place too.

...or, now, we may not go to Portugal. New mutual quarantine rules may put a damper on that. It depends whether the rules apply when crossing by road from Spain into Portugal. I do think singling Portugal out as a "red" zone seems arbitrary and unfair, given that they seem to have handled the pandemic better than the UK, current localised outbreaks not withstanding. Just hoping its status will change before we set off in late August.
