Possible leisure battery problems

Hi

Have recently bought a abbey exec 360 est 1986 model. EHU works fine but second hand leisure battery, which shows green light to indicate charged, does not seem to run on board 12v lights and water pump. Light on zig unit shows red. Battery connections are rusty crocodile clips. Could this be the problem?

Also the zig unit, a cp3, does not charge the battery so can anyone recommend a decent charger or suggest how to charge the battery when on site?

Check main 12 volt fuse..... usually found inside caravan under front bench seat near battery box

...... normally inline blade type of 20 amps found in main supply wire (+ve red) coming from rear of battery box.

Apologies for hijacking this thread - my query is about leisure batteries, but motor movers also.

If I change my 85amp hour battery to 110amp hour battery will the speed of movement of my PowrTouchmover increase?

I assume it will, as the internal battery series resistance is likely to be lower for the 110amp hour rated battery. Is the speed of the motors on my mover proportional to battery voltage or are they speed controlled and hence an increase in battery voltage will not cause a corresponding increase in speed.

Thanks for any replies.

It won't make any difference.

If you imagine a battery as being a water tank, a 85Ah battery is like a tank that holds 85 gallons, and a 110Ah battery is a tank that holds 110 gallons. The motor mover uses 1 gallon per minute, so the size of the tank just determines how long the water will last sort of thing.

Jimbo.
