powertouch

hi i am a new member and would like to ask advise , my powertouch motor movers is weak when going up a ramp, it is a few years old so would that make a difference. i have a new battery and bushes fitted, its a Rapido pop top caravan so not that heavy . any suggestions please

Hi to poppysdad. and welcome.

Is it struggling or slipping on the tyre? If slipping they can be adjusted and/or new grips applied to the rollers or new rollers.

Some info here.

Hi poppysdad Welcome to the forum . My role on this forum is to offer support and advise in a practical way as a fellow caravanner, I have no technical advise to offer as if there are any issues with my van have an excellent person for this, Any support I will be there.

I would agree that checking the gap is the first thing, it should clamp very tight onto the wheel to work efficiently. Our Powertouch was fitted to our last caravan for 4 1/2 years and has been transferred to the current one making it now about 8 years old and it has been trouble free.

As others have said, the tyre grip is important, when new there is a small wooden block of I think 19 mm which is the gap required between the motor mover and the tyre when " Un engaged" this will give the motor mover the best grip when working.
Unless you are good at mechanical, you will need to get someone to reset this for you.
