Hi all just to let everybody aware of a sad response from a recent complaint to powrtouch motor mover on my caravan, when i bought the caravan it was in storage for 4 years and never used apart from 3 times and due to ill health sold to me, i have used the motor mover 8 times and one of the rollers have lost the coating and it appears that it was never adhered in the first place but with so little used i contacted powrtouch and complained but very negative response they don't now why its happened and that was it ,they offered me replacement rollers £60 pr but no mention of replacing under warranty i know the warranty is 5 years but what about life expectancy only being used about 12 times surely should not fail, i was told that they have changed the design now when i asked if it was to do with the problem i have they never responded

First question is how old is the mover?
Secondly the guarantee is for a time period of 5 years, NOT how many times the mover is used or not.
Thirdly, the grit rollers have not all suffered loss of the grit, many are now into their 8th or 9th year and still performing well, and Powrtouch did indeed replace any faulty ones within the 5 years guarantee period and some a liitle longer if it was in a reasonable time of the 5 years, like within an extra 6 months.

The design was changed due to evolution , like everything else, idead move on and new designs appear, just what happened with Powrtouch, same as the control boxes have evolved into different looking units, different colour and handset shape but still do the same job.

Lastly, was the remainder of the warranty transferred to you when you bought the caravan?

hi, it would be nice if everthing we bought had a lifetime warranty but sadly this is not the case, if the mover is over 5 years old and I suspect it is? I would imagine it would be difficult to get any manufacturer let alone powertouch to repair it free of charge.

but I would look at it from a different angle, seeing as how the mover was on the van when bought effectively it was free anyway, a pair of new genuine replacement rollers for £60 must be a bargain (the ones on E-bay are that sort of price EACH) and either fit them yourself (takes about an hour) or get a mobile fitter to do the job even if this cost an extra £50 it is still a cheap mover,

grit rollers do sometimes lose a bit of surface roughness over time but usually still work ok , my mover "a truma SE" is over 12 years old but still works fine even on wet muddy tyres.

my advice would be to step back a bit calm down, get it repaired and move on, it may not have be the response one expects from a company like powertouch but even they have limits and 5 years seems to be it.
