My van is in for a service and the dealer has told me that the powrtouch rollers are worn and need replacing.

Can anyone give me an idea of the cost of these and are they only available through the manufacturer.

Clive,

No idea about the cost of replacing the rollers, on the one or two occasions I have read about people needing new rollers it was done free under Powrtouch's 5 year guarantee. How old is your mover? I would imagine these rollers might only be available from the company. I've phoned them a couple of times for guidance on my own mover and have always found them very helpful, suggest you give them a call.

Depending on which model of Powrtouch you have, changing rollers is an easy or slightly more complicated DIY job.

For the standard model, I understand it can be done with the mover on the van, but with the heavy duty version you will need to take the gear box covers off and this is much easier done with the mover off the van.

Powrtouch will tell you which type you have from the serial numbers engraved on the back of each motor unit, or from your invoice.

My Broadband has been down for a few days so I could not update on my situation. I rang powrproducts and they were most helpful.

A new set of rollers complete with bearings was sent to me free of charge. They arrived this morning and their local fitter rang today to make arrangements to fit them.

What a tremendous service.

I agree with JohnG that the cast aluminium rollers look a much better bit of kit than the older ones
