What: Practical Caravan Reader Rally

Where: Billing Aquadrome

When 12/13/14 June 2009

With summer just around the corner (and forecasters say it will be a hot one), I wanted to make sure Forum users as well as magazine readers are able to join us for this year's reader rally at Billing Aquadrome in Northamptonshire. We've had some terrific events in the past and hope this one will be our best ever.

Just about all of our regular writers will be at Billing for the weekend, and we've invited a range of industry experts who will be offering hints and tips on everything from cooking on site, to putting up your awning, and even finding the best television reception. If you've got a question, we'll have somebody on hand with the answer.

The inevitable dog show will make a comeback, plus football matches, a sports day, a caravan manoeuvring competition and a fancy dress contest. We also have a charity auction planned to empty the contents of our shed, which is full to bursting with great caravan accessories.

All weekend you'll be able to take full advantage of our big rally marquee with tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits on tap. On Friday night we'll be hosting a quiz night, and on Saturday we'll be having a huge hog roast/ BBQ, with a 13-piece rock and roll band playing hits from the 60s.

There is plenty to do at Billing between rally activities including fishing, go-karting, crazy golf, pedalo hire and even a small funfair. The site also has bar, restaurant and take away food facilities.

The whole weekend costs just £99 per couple with a small charge for extra guests to cover costs. Kids are £7.50 each. You'll find further information if you cut and paste the link below into your browser:

To book, please call Billing Aquadrome direct on 01604 784948.

I hope to see you there.

Not every one knows where Billing Aquadrome is located and all the website says is that it is near Northampton.

I have managed to locate the site via anothe forum but the strange thing is that Billing Aquadoem has requeste for all reviews to be remove. Is there something about this place that we should know about?

Just as a follow up, if you google the name Billing Aquadome reviews, a majority fo the reviews aren't exactly flattering which is probably why they requested the other forum to remove all reviews.

Surely PC would have picked a site with better reviews?

Ian,

Billing is an enormous site, but we chose it based on it's central location (previous rallies have been in the West Country, North-West and drew criticism as a result).

The event has been planned with close co-operation between ourselves and Billing. We have inspected the facilities on a site visit, discussed the best part of the site for us to use and talked to them during every stage of the process. We need a large marquee, areas for technical demonstrations, display areas and so on, and discussion with Billing has been good. We would be done no credit by an event with substandard facilities. I'm going myself, and I don't want to stay on a site that with bad facilities. We don't believe we have chosen one. Further discussion is welcome, but we are confident that the venue will be perfect for what we have planned.

Incidentally, what is the point of a reviews website where you can ask for bad ones to be taken down...?

My son stayed there 2 years ago with the MG owners club.

During the evening / night there was trouble involving local lads & the police.

Several units were damaged & many people that were staying had gone by the next morning.

My son was informed that this was not an issolated occasion.

I for one will not be going

Thanks Nigel, it was Billing Aquadoem that requested ukcampsite to remove the reviews probably because of the nature of the reviews. As per my suggestion, have you done a google for reviews on the site?

Many reviews are similar to what Graham has stated which if we were debating whether to join yourself would definitely put us off which is a shame as we would like to go and meet others off the forum.

Although we will not be participating, as PC have selected this venue, perhaps those off these forums may like to be lumped together to socialise. Could it be considered?

Greetings from Bugbrooke ( not far from Billing Aquadrome )

Lost count of the number of times we have been there over the years. Seen lots of changes, some good, some bad. However one cannot deny the fact that it is an ideal place to hold the type of rally that PC are holding. We can't join for the whole weekend but we look forward to popping in some time over the weekend.

I would urge you all to go and enjoy yourselves!!!!!

Hi Nigel

Your twitter email address didn't work, I received a reply saying 'no match found'.

I've sent an email using the address from the Home Page of the website instead.

Ian,

If enough people from the Forum want to attend, I have been assured we should be able to corral them all together!
