Pre 98 Van, new tow bar - wiring solution?

Just bought first van, pre-98, and hit the snag that the new tow bar is wired up for post 98 wiring - is there an easy solution to this problem? Also, once fixed, is the leisure battery going to charge as we drive, or not?
