Pressure relief valve

Hello,
I recently purchased an old lunar carina caravan.
There is a pressure relief valve with a screw top on it. Is that supposed to be turned clockwise till it goes no further? Or perhaps the other way and loosen it. It can actually be turned till the screw bit comes right off.
I cannot find any info at all online.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Can you give some more detail of this valve?
As a relief I am assuming it is likely to be in the water system.

I think from your description it's the pressure switch for the water pump - it's adjustable as it's voltage sensitive and your leisure battery voltage will vary slightly depending how well charged it is.

This might help. Mine would sometimes need readjusting if I changed from EHU to just battery.

.....you don't have a pressure relief valve.

It is a electrical switch that turns your water pump on or off depending on the water pressure at the switch.
Open a tap in the caravan and the water pressure drops and the pump operates and visa versa.
Your water pump can create a higher or lower pressure depending on the voltage output of the caravan's battery.
Since the water pressure varies relative with the voltage supply, the switch may have to be adjusted (via the screw top) to get the water pump to stop when a tap is turned off.

Is it mounted in the pipework near where the fresh water comes on to the van? Does it have two wires coming from it?
Is it on the water heater?
A photo would allow us to confirm if it is the pressure switch for the water pump or a relief valve for the hot water tank.
