When VAT was temporarily reduced to 15%, the Chancellor added 2% duty to fuel to offset the reduction in tax collected from motorists. Now that VAT has been increased to 17.5% again this hidden tax has not been removed - hence recent rises in your fuel costs. Sign the petition at the link below to have this stealth tax removed!

Please pass this on to your friends - the more the merrier. Happy motoring!

Sorry Ian but this topic always ends in a fruitless debate but no decisive actions.

I tried a couple of months ago to rally up people to make a stand like the french do but i'm afraid british people have forgotten how to stand together and make a difference.

I've been on petrol prices.com and lodged my support but what is that going to do if the RHA, RAC and AA don't link arms with the likes of the caravan club and Caravan &camping club and us on the forum, to make a concerted effort to make our disgust heard.

Only Wednesday this week I stopped at Morrisons Leominster and put just

The problem as I see it is if the petrol prices keep going up that will be another cost that will have to be taken into account if caravanners want to keep going away. Will it mean that they will do less miles, want to stay more local and that may mean that some caravan sites will start to see business dropping off.

Just to cheer you all up , fuel will go up by another 2.5 per ltr from April, stop moaning somebody has to pay for the ever increasing MP wages.

Does MP stand for "moneygrabbing Pilfferer's" or is it "Mindless pillocks".

The only reason dumb & dumber aren't taking up their pay rises is purely election related. At 66K per annum before fiddles, diddles and highway robbery, they are already 30K overpaid and definately underworked.

There are many private and public sector workers doing actual jobs, having to have a pay freeze or even take a cut just to keep their jobs and they are the real people who keep this country going.

Trust me Bill Wiggin or Paul Keetch had better not dare to ask me for their vote!!

Just wait until the pound crashes during the forthcoming sterling crisis, assuming that we get a hung parliament! It'll not be only diesel going through the roof.

HI.

Im sorry but in my view we could sign petitions on the price of fuel till we are blue in the face, and it will not change a thing. The british goverment are a bunch of crooks half of them should be locked up anyway and they use the motorist as an easy target for revenue.

Just look at the tax they have imposed on 4x4 and bigger cars, totaly out of order as these cars have just as clean emissions as any. My car is only a 2.0 and its annual road tax is

The Vat on fuel stayed at 17.5% when Vat was dropped to 15% last year.

Too many people have companies cars with a fuel card so dont pay for their fuel and look to see who can give the the best point offers plus people who can claim business milage can claim 40p per mile.

Unless you get everyone onside a campaign is fruitless.

the annoying thing si that the tax as introdcued to pay for road maintenance but is being squandee elsewhere as our roads especially some A roads are in a shocking state. Even some of our M roads required attention especially the M5 south of Gloucestershire. I have seen better roads in some developing countries.

Perhaps drivers are their own worst enemies. On my return from site today diesel was anything between 112p and 116p per ltr. Why were drivers filling up at the expensive ones?

Ray, probably cos they're company car drivers who don't give a toss how much it is, as they don't pay for it.

David R, I guess you must be on LPG, but where do you get for 49p? We're paying around 60p here in GoC.

.... There is also the stealth fuel tax that we all pay without knowing it!

90% of all goods are carried on trucks in the UK and a big Artic does 8-10mpg.

It will use

Ray (C)

The ones filling up at the dearer prices were the ones collecting loyalty tokens paying for their fuel with their company credit card.

When I was working I saved so many "points" we had two weeks free hols at some lovely UK hotels.

Remember Green Shield Stamps??

Cheers

Yes, running on LPG.....for about 40,000 miles so far.

My local LPG station is a Calor outlet in Ayr, Ayrshire.

The manager has a Volvo converted and doesn't like paying too much.

His head office keep trying to get him to put it up but he has seen a massive increase in sales as he is the cheapest for about 40 miles......so it stays at 49p.

I haven't got a clue what the price of diesel is, i only covered 6.5K miles last year, so it would be difficult to cut back further, so i just fill it up at the nearest supermarket.

pick up an old 4x4 diesel and use veg oil straight out of drum from cash and carry mix 50/50 in winter and upto 80/20 in summer as long as it is an older model car with mechanical fuel pump and you change filter every 4000miles no problems. i have done 50,000 in a hilux no problem, check veg fuel web sites, no duty to pay as there is an exemption on hmrc website 2500 miles per year (who is measuring)? stick 2 fingers up as you pass petrol station.
