Prima leisure, Bamboo product recall.

That’s a really long recall list. Should I be worried as a number of my M&S pants are bamboo. Must Google bamboo and nuts for possible allergic reactions.

Typical, there we are thinking we are doing the right thing by using sustainable, allegedly eco friendly products. Then it turns out the stuff is full of formaldehyde.

Is the formaldehyde occurring naturally in bamboo - or is it being used as a wood preservative for factory-made products?

To answer my own question, a quick Google shows that it's the latter so the Pandas should be ok.

Possibly treatment by the Prima supplier rather than something for all bamboo products. I would not overly worry about other firms products which should also be the subject of a recall if affected.

This article refers to tests in Germany where Bamboo/Melamine mugs released high levels of formaldehyde - but so did pure melamine mugs, which have long been a favourite of caravanners!
