'Privacy' Windows - Stop Internal Fading??

Given the ongoing debates re Blinds up or down whilst in storage, our van has the black 'privacy' windows fitted - Does the team think that this means that we don't need to blank the windows to stop fading the upholstery whilst in storage?

Or should we still cover the windows and roof lights in some way?

Had thought of using wallpaper or card to cover, but as an aside I notice nearly all the vans in the storage we use have the Blinds down!

Cheers

jon,

A service engineer once advised me not to lower blinds when in storage but instead to buy a roll of the silver faced material sold at diy stores for insulating the wall behind radiators. This can be easily cut with scissors to each window shape and if placed with silver side out makes a good opaque and reflective temporary blind and can be reused each year over and over.

You will need two sections to cover your front windows horizontaly and I just support the top section with short pieces of gaffer tape from the plastic blind housings and inside the curtains. In fact I dont need to attach to any of the other windows as the material is quite stiff and if cut oversize will wedge into to blind track. Been using the same material for 6 winters now. No fading and all blinds are relaxing on their holiday!

Paul,

I like the idea of the metallic reflective panels - think I will give it a shot - do you or Lutz cover your Hekla roof lights ?

Thanks

Jon

i allways leave the blinds up and draw the curtains , never had any trouble with fading ,dont get enough sunlight in this country , and if i was that bothered i would cut some card board and place it between the curtains and windows
