Connecting satellite via external tv point

Hi

I have a Bailey Unicorn vigo that has an external 230v power socket and also a tv point. I have a Maxview portable satellite and it has a twin LNB. Normally I only use the one LNB and run a stelllite cable from that LNB to the xternal TV point. As it is a cox point I use an F connector on it and then inside the van I use another f connector to run a satellite cable to my satellite freesat receiver.

This has worked fine until my old freesat receiver packed in.

I am intending buying another but I want to take advantage of the ability to watch TV whilst also recording a different channel as I have a twin LNB and the new freesat receiver would have 2 satellite points on the back of it.

However as I only have 1 external tv point, does this mean I would have to run the cable (it is one cable where both ends are then equipped with 2 satellite connectors) through the caravan window ( I don't want to drill holes in my caravan to create a 2nd external TV point). Or could I use a Splitter on the external point and then another on the internal caravan tv point so that I can then run 2 cables into the receiver and then have the option to watch and record a different channel.

I suspect this wont work but just thought I would ask

Many thanks

John

17 years ago I did away with the external tv point and fitted one of these.
Then just run a twin Sat co ax lead to the internal tv point socket also changed for a double F connector socket. Easy.

Running another cable and changing outlet will not effect any warranty only if you mess other things up, that you then try to claim for. Had 11 brand new caravans over the years and every one from the day I have got them I have changed things like putting extra sockets in etc,and quietening noises from water pumps and fitting Thermostatic control for shower.

You could ask the Dealer to agree or even so them to do the modification. Shouldn’t be expensive!

I removed the unit with the external aerial coaxial point and replaced it with another that had the two F connector points and also the coaxial point. On the other side I ran the sat cables to the back of the Sky+HD box and then used the RF feed into a coaxial point so signal to all points in the caravan.
