Problem with the Caravan Door locks.

I was out for the first time with the new Adria caravan at the weekend, at the Kelso bike show.

Managed to tow the caravan alright ( as it was my first time on towing on the open roads ).

But on Saturday morning i managed to lock my self out of the caravan with the keys still inside the caravan, So after a four hour round trip back home to pick up the spare set of keys, and eventually got the caravan open for wife to get her stuff, one of the friends i was with told me i should have not been able to do that with the type of lock that is fitted to the caravan, but what wee discovered was that the door latch on the Adria is to small and has a double lip, so if you close the door with the door lock in the closed position, when you close the door it will catch on the first lip, then if you give it a little push it will total close, so unless you have the door keys in your pocket you have lock your self out, that's twice I've done it but lucky the first time i had the keys in my hand, so i have had a couple of spare keys cut and i will keep them in a safe place, just in case it happens again.

When i got home i went and saw the dealer i bought the caravan from, so as they are to visit Adria UK this week, they are going to mention it to them to see if they are aware of this problem, But the dealer said Adria are not the only caravans that you able to lock your self out of.

So i am wondering if anyone else has done this or had a problem with their door lock, or how i can fix it.

Thanks

Trbordee.

TD, there are many vans which you can lock yourself out of.

Over the last 2 weeks I have been called to open three!!!

The simplest answer to avoiding the problem is to keep a spare door key in the car, or some place hidden on the exterior of the van (there are lots of places underneath the van where you can fit a box to keep a key safe).
