Property insurance while touring

Can anyone suggest a company which will provide more than 90 days building and content insurance for periods away from home.

The Caravan Club now offers 90 days but will not extend it even for additional premium.

I've tried brokers with no success. Unfortunately don't have family or anyone who could occupy for a couple of nights to "reset" the cover, particularly as this would mean refilling all the water and heating systems and then draining down again.

All the companies seem to want "residence" to restart the period, not just a daily visit by neighbour etc.

Good morning Ray

A neighbour of mine had a 2nd home in Ireland and was away for 3 months + at a time. This question came up in conversation and he said his insurance is organised at a local insurance broker. It might be wise to speak to one in your area and hopefully they'll be able to help.

Thanks James, unfortunately I've tried several locally and they were about as much use as a chocolate teapot. Most would not even answe a question about extended period insurance before thay had gone through the whole rigmarole of house details etc.

I was not too happy with this, as it means more and more people will know I am away from home, a thing I try to avoid.
