Hi

i have just bought myself a photometer mini to give my 2009 bailey a damp test before the warranty runs out.
I have never used a damp meter before but after reading reviews i decided this was the one i would buy.I went into my van armed with the meter and a pen to take down the readings and the first place i tried (above the front window) to my horror read 30% i continued with the rest of the van which read within the acceptable limits then decided to recheck the front to be sure,i decided to wipe the surface (only by chance) and got a reading within the limits.
now I'm wondering if the meter is faulty or am i doing something wrong, would the condition of the surface really affect the reading that much as it felt dry to the touch the first time i did it ??
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Hi Spiderbait

There are a few things that can affect readings on most/any damp meter

Condensation
damp
metal behind the wall boards (corners mainly)
catching window rubbers with the probes

Experience will guide you.
But you need to makes sure your readings are what they say they are
