I recently bought a Bosch vehicle battery form Tanya at a very competitive price......and delivered to my door by a tracked courier.
Talked to the delivery driver about how they go about delivering such a potentially dangerous item........very impressive the care they take.
I cannot fault the product or service.

+ 1 for Tayna, especially leisure batteries.

Not the best price for a particular car battery I need. Costco or Car Parts 4 Less (the sister company to Euro Car Parts, and often lower price especially with a voucher code found online) are other suppliers. :p

I had a bad experience with an on-line supplier when the battery developed a fault with its handles. One just broke off! It took me a lot of persistent effort to persuade them that they were not fulfilling their obligations under consumer law. as the battery supplied was not fit for purpose, and was clearly a safety hazard. Eventually they did agree to send me a replacement battery but also required the defective one to be returned. (refunded at their cost after much "discussion" ). However finding a courier willing to take a used battery wasn't easy. The main couriers will transport new a battery, but not a used one as used ones generally are dealt with by companies who specialise in recycling batteries. So I got back to the original battery supplier and with much reluctance they agreed to have their courier pick it up. But the requirements for sealing and packaging were somewhat onerous. Plus I had to wait around for the collection.

When I next bought battery I looked around locally and many suppliers were very close to the online suppliers and were much more convenient if anything went wrong and it had to be tested/returned. So after my experience i now buy my car and caravan batteries locally.

So the online suppliers are excellent for purchasing but check out what their procedures are for a return.

Easier solution - buy an own brand from Halfords. It is actually a badged Yuasa, one of the best brands you can get. HLB681 115Ah costs £95 with a 2-year guarantee.

Very good point there Clive, one that I could easily have over looked

I have to say it's not very often I have to change any batteries car or van. My last van one was fairly reasonably priced from my local NCC workshop and lasted about 8 years so just been and replaced with the same again. No idea what brand it is. I can't remember when the last time I bought one for a car.

I've used https://advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/ online three times in the past few years and besides their prices being very competitive, their service has been first rate. Order before lunch time and they do free delivery next day.

I don't think there is a big issue with obtaining batteries on line, the problems seems to be if the battery you get is the wrong one or its faulty, and getting it back to the seller.

Please be aware that teh CRA only covers the situation when product is faulty, it is the sellers responsibility to cover the cost of returning faulty goods. They are not responsible if you have purchased the wrong one or you have changed your mind, in which case you should read up about the consumer-contracts-regulations.

You may find this link helpful as it replaces the distance selling regulations and would apply to the online purchase of batteries.
