Purple line motor mover

Hi I have had a Purple Line motor mover fitted approximately 3 years, it has a bar connected to both motors to allow manually moving the rollers onto and away from the wheels at the same time. Recently when winding the bar up its seems to slip and cause one of the rollers to not wind up at the same position, I had to start winding both rollers individually which is a bit of a pain.
Has anyone got any ideas at the cause or solution, I think there must be a gear mechanism in the roller section which is slipping but not sure?

Thanks

Ian.

Ian,
If it is the same model as mine (also about 3 years old) there is a chromed knurled collar behind each winding nut. This can be pulled out or pushed in and turned to lock which either engages or disengages the cross actuation.

Hi, Yes it sounds the same, chrome collar is in the correct place and I can see the bar turning behind when winding on, however every 2 turns or so, I feel it clunk then slip.

If the collar isn't just jumping out of position then presumably the splines inside it are broken or worn. I'm sure the mechanism is quite a simple one and doesn't involve the main gearing. Stripping it down looks quite a job however.
