We bought one of these awnings early this year and used it in Spain and Portugal. We have the 1075 size and we were advised by the dealer that the alloy pole system would not be recommended for an awning as large as this.

1. I wouldn't have believed that the set of steel poles would be so heavy, they take some lifting.

2. The plastic locks on the poles are very flimsy; I had to repair one with glue while we were away.

3. The draught skirt fitted to the bottom of the van is described as "Free". I've never heard of an awning supplier charging for these anyway!

The draught skirt is made of a very thin sort pvc that is just too weak to do the job, it is also made too narrow so that it just touches the ground this very little scope for fixing down.

4. Brass coloured eyelets are used to fasten the pole hooks that form the canopy. These are made of steel so are prone to rust. When we took the awning down for the first time they were already starting to rust. When we took the awning down for the second time they were corroded tight to the hooks.

5. After being in use for about 2 months in fairly average weather the sides of the awning are fading (compare with a Bradcot, with a lifetime guarantee against fading)

Would we buy one again with the faults that we know of?

Possibly! With all the faults it's still a very cheap awning. As the bard says "you gets wot you pays for"

Hiya i also have this awning with two tall annexes i find everything great with it, no rusty eyelets and draft skirt fits fine and no fading although the steel poles are heavy but i need them for the size 1075cm overall i think it is great value for money, incedently my awning has been up since the beginning of may on a site in the trossachs.

Hi Ray

I got one of these last year and have had exactly the same problems as Colin with the addition that the peg down bits at 3 points have snapped.

Always used to buy NR awnings and whilst the Pyramid is slightly cheaper it is definatley not of the same quality.

Hi we brought one of these awning, and always had Dorema before, I like this awning its great, my only coments are poles are quite heavy but ours is a 1000cm so they would be, the plastic pegs are rubbish, and so are the metal dorema ones, I have replaced these straight away with metal screw pegs(the nuts) use them for everything cost

now i am really stumped!!!! i reackon it's about 2-2 at the moment.have clive and caslau called the pyramid help line regarding there complaints,if so what was there response? the weight of the steel frame seems to be the only issue that everybody agrees on,although in my case i intend to get the alloy ones, ref. the pegs,i have had the same pegs for donkies years and used them on every awning i've had, plastic pegs are hopeless at the best of times.thanks for the comments guys[or gals]keep 'em coming.

I have had a 900cm Tuscany with steel poles for almost 3 years.

No probs with rusting poles or faded fabic.

I changed the awning pads for the dorema ones, and I find them alot better.

If the tie down straps are not included, get a set. The make the whole awning stable.

I'd deffo buy another.

Not sure, but I think the only difference with the corsican, is that it has a channel sewn in for the pyramid windbreaks.

I have had a Dorema President Vario for five years. Excellent design, crap execution. Flappy roof, which Dorema never cured, rusty poles which jam together, and lousy customer service.
