I am the Product quality manager at pyramid products and i would like to reply to the topic comments made regarding our PDQ awning dated 19th feb.As with all awnings the material as to breath to enable the awning to gain its water proof qualities you cannot find this out the first time it is taken away.Also with the stitching apparently coming away makes me wonder if it was fitted to the caravan correctly in the first instance.We have received many complements about our new generation of awning , There is alot of people buying this product upon recommendation and that is great news for us as a company.The lady who have answered the phone obviously did not know the product.AS WITH ALL OUR PRODUCTS WE WOULD RECOMMEND AND LIKE TO THANK OUR MANY THOUSANDS OF HAPPY CUSTOMERS

I purchased one of these awnings last week from AJM leisure. We used it for the first time this weekend. There was nothing wrong with it except that the central horizontal 'kinked' front pole bent rather quickly. I 'phoned AJM, they contacted Pyramid and a replacement is on its' way. This seems to be great customer service and, as an awning concept, it is great. The zipping arrangements are not great (my 9 year old son cannot reach the zips! But I am sure that this will be rectified in due course. We're off to France with it (and hopefully the new pole) this weekend and will let you know how we get on. As with all new products there have to be some development issues. Well done Pyramid though for breaking new ground - we just hope that we will, in due course, be able to get a version with sensible zipping!!

We have had many awnings with no trouble and are experienced with awnings, but in our short time with the pdq awning the storage bag filled with water on the side of the caravan, so when you opened it you got covered in rain water, and the awning came unstitched from the bag but not due to user error. Also there is a design fault in which the doors unzip the wrong way so you have to completely unzip or step over the half zip door each time you leave or enter (pain in arse!)

We have just sent our PDQ back to towsure. How are people expected to open a door to an awning from the top. I am only 5' and had to stretch to reach it. I also have 4 children who would not be able to get in and out of th eawning without an adult present. A complete design fault!!!!!

We have a PDQ awning & agree with some of the comments about the zip working fron the centre to the floor totally silly idea, & needs changing.

Apart from that not a bad bit of kit.

We've got one and have to agree with the above comments about the zips being the wrong way around.They are a recipe for disaster with kids in and out, also the awning bag filling with rain water so you get soaked arms when you open it can't do the awning any good.Also ther's no side skirt provided with the awning which is annoying.

What is your response to the comments made? I'm sure we'd all like to know what, if anything, is being done about these faults/problems? I especially would like to know, as we were seriously thinking of getting one of these easy to erect awning (which would saving us from a divorce - tee hee).

I have recently purchased a P.D.Q from Towsure at the NEC tried it last weekend BRILLIANT. Anoraks and zips come to mind.

I have a PDQ and we think its (we meaning my wife and i)the best thing since sliced bread.It fantastic getting on site and putting your awning up in 10 minutes while other people take a hour and half.

New pole arrived as promised from pdq. i.e, the next day (that's pdq if you ask me!) So, the only gripe I have with this great awning is the zipping - perhaps we could think of a fix? I have attached some flourescent cords to act as pulls on the zippers for our nippers but the zips snag at times. Any other thoughts? How about PDQ coming up with some ideas - Kevin?

with respect how could you not put this awning up correctly so as to cause it to tear, my friend has returned 2 that have come unstitched close to the awning rail/storage. bag both my friend and i are experienced caravanners of 20 years+ each so are aware of all the do's and don'ts but have come to the conclusion that this appears to be a growing problem that when addressed will result in an otherwise excellent product

We were seriously interested in getting one of these awnings as the design seemed very clever and easy to use, but have been a little put off by the adverse comments we have read.

Could any of you who have one please tell me:

a) Does the bag(with awning inside) hang down over the door at all? (In other words, do you have to put the awning up in order to be able to get in and out of the caravan!)

b) When up, does the storage bag obscure the awning light (I realise this is somewhat caravan dependant) ?

Hi caroline

We have a PDQ awning which we have used only the once so far this season.

A) The bag does not interfear with opening our van door, 2003 Swift Charisma 565

b)But it does cover most of the awning light on ours, but if you have a light more to the side & lower down of the door you will have no problem, but we still get enough light even though it is covered slightly.

As you may have seen by some of the previous posts, the zip is a silly idea only opening from the center of the door down towards the floor, so if you don't fully unzip it you have to step over the botom bit.

Apart from the zip we are very pleased with our purchase & have had no trouble with it in winds as we got a tie down kit supplied with ours.

We have a Bailey Pageant Provence

but I guess that the gap between awning rail and top of door cannot vary much between caravans.

I am a bit worried about the zip business though, as I have a tendency to fall over the pattern in the carpet and need no extra help to be clumsy!

Anyway, I shall think about it.

Just had 10 days in Normandy with our Adria and pdq. no problems whatsover - so good we're now selling our full size awning. Silly zips yes but made up for by ease of use. The bag clears the top of the door and awning light on our Adria.
