Have a look under 'Forum Search' Subject: awnings. It will give you some idea of what other members think about different ones (including porch-type). We have a Scenic Suncamp and are very pleased with it. Erects in less than 30 mins!

Tim,

We use a Suncamp Scenic Plus as well, quite handy for what you want it for. I dont think it is really meant for all seasons, but we have also used it for new year a couple of times and it has been ok.

I was really interested in one of these new-fangled super-ultra-mega lightweight "chuck it up in 30seconds" awnings.

Just the jobbie for a weekend, as lugging a full Isabella and erecting it for a couple of nights seems to a bit OTT when you want to relax.

So, whilst in Towsure I locate a member of staff and drag said youth in the direction of the awnings.

Explaining that I have an old (but brilliant) ABI Transtar (the one with the roof line which rises over the door for the rear fibreglass spoiler section), I ask if any of the lightweight awnings would fit on this section bearing in mind the position of the tensioning poles. "I don`t know". Does anyone else know? "Doubt it". Can I buy one then, and if doesn`t fit, bring it back? "Won`t take it back if it`s been out of it`s bag". So despite their `assistance` I didn`t buy one.

Can anyone on here answer the original question, or better still has anyone got one that works on a similar van?

Hi

We got a Sunncamp Scenic plus. On a recent weekend away, I had to tow the van up to Clitheroe and set up alone as my husband had a meeting in Manchester and would join me later by train. Never having put this little beasty up before I thought it would take me a good while but I was pleased to be standing back and admiring it after 15 mins...it takes less time when my husband does it presumably because hes done it about 5 times and at less than five feet tall I am a bit vertically challenged for erecting awnings. Its an ideal porch for boots etc. We can get our 'half bikes' (solo touring bicycles) in but its a bit of a squeeze for the tandem. You do have to watch the caravan height though as our Abbey is at the maximum limit.

Hi Angus

Try making contact with United British Caravans a company based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Their staff are very helpful and they do mail order. They regularly advertise in caravan magazines and having dealt with them personally can recommend them highly. If they cannot help you (in the trade) I doubt anyone can.
