Has anyone got one of these?

Thinking of buying one as my cushion in the caravan does make ny back ache. Are they worth the money? Do they work?

12 Months ago my wife and I bought a new van with a fixed bed.Although the mattress was better than the cushions that we had used in previous vans we were still suffering back problems for the first few nights of a trip. On someone's recommendation we bought a 2" memory foam topper, as it happens from Raskelf. The purchase has been brilliant. In March and April we spent six weeks in Portugal, Spain and France on a retirement holiday, without any back problems at all. Some mornings we were reluctant to get out it was so snug.

Raskelf product is really good but appears overpriced. Theres a recession on you know!! Same quality foam can be bought from www.itstimeforbed at a much more competitive price. Bought two small sized single bed size with covers. Taking into account the amount of usage they will get in the van, say between 30/40 nights per year, we opted for the more competitively priced product which we used for the first time this weekend. What a difference compared to the cushions. So yep they work. A good investment even when times is tough!!

We bought an IKEA mattress pad for Bailey Provence - we use the rear dinette made up as a fixed bed when we don't have the grandchildren with us. Works a treat and not ever so expensive either.

We also bought an Ikea mattress pad after trying a 3" memory foam topper that John couldn't get on with. The Ikea pad isn't so expensive either and we liked the quilted removable cover.

Some people find memory foam really comfortable, yet others find it can be difficult to turn in your sleep when using one. I would have been happy to keep the memory foam, but the Ikea one is just as comfy.

The weight difference between the two toppers was quite noticable too, with the Ikea topper being much lighter.

I use a memory foam pillow which is great for me. I broke my back a couple of years ago, and turning in my sleep is a problem at the best of times due to my reduced control over my bottom half. I tried a memory foam topper and did find it comfortable at first but I was virtually having to get up and then down into the new position (yes I can still stand and walk, but I can't rotate my back at all).

It can be an expensive mistake if you find you can't get on with a memory foam topper. John is fit and healthy but still found turning over quite difficult.

Luckily a friend bought ours from us and we got the Ikea one instead, but I would recommend trying before you buy memory foam.

I had 2 mattresses made by Raskelf for my caravan, they are superb and I dont suffer with my back anymore when using the caravan, they were very helpful on the sizes I needed, and worked out a lot cheaper than many other products on the market. The delivery was very quick as well less than a week

Hi Pamela,

I didn't want to get rid of it myself lol! Our friend keeps saying what a lovely sleep she gets so it must be "a man thing"

Our bed at home took a bit of getting used to but it wasn't quite so "sinky" as the 3" topper. We went for the thicker one as we thought it would be less likely to ruck up and I could tuck the fitted sheet round it. At least we got something in the end and our friend is also very happy!

If you are still looking for a memory foam one, we got ours on Ebay
