Hi all. Just done the new member intro. My Abbey Daystar 2 berth was a cheap but cheerful little thing and shows promise of being a nice little tourer when done.

1. The Thetford cassette bench toilet's fuse has come adrift while checking it and looks like an issue to remove the panel that it sits in, I can get to 3 of the screws but it still won't budge to allow me to gain access to it and the micro switches located in that unit.

2. My pump switch when on has the pump pumping all the time and even when the taps are turned off, is this another micro switch issue ?

That'll do for questions now as don't want to get too confused ;-)

Regards

Sorry I cant help you with the Thetford

But the pump, it might be a micro-switch problem, do check that all taps are off including the shower mixer taps, Or you may have a pressure switch operated system, which is affected by the battery voltage. If its too low, the pump may not be working hard enough to build the pressure up enough to trip the pressure switch when the taps are closed..

Most pressure switched have an adjustment knob and are usually located close to where teh water comes into the caravan. If its there try twerking it. YOu can look up on teh WWW about haow to adjust Whale pressure switches.

You may find that when teh battery is charged you need to readjust the switch.

As regards the operating saddle on the toilet you are trying to get off it has 4 screws holding it in place.
You need to take the 4th one out !!!!
Its not easy to see but it is there !!!

Regarding the pump running, probably the pressure switch needs adjusting.

You are right, its not right!
If you don't have a pressure switch, then it means the pump is controlled by micro-switches - one in every tap head. It seems that one of these has become faulty and is not turning off the pump when the tap is closed.

As a start, turn teh pump master switch off so the pump does not run. Then in turn listen closely to each tap head as you turn it on, you might (should) hear a small click as you start to open the tap, and again when you turn it off. If you find one tap where you cant hear it clicking, its quite possible that might be the offending tap. Under that tap you should find a pair of wires that eventually lead to a some form of connector, If you disconnect that pair of wires, and then try the pump again, if its the fault switch wires the pump should start and stop when any of teh other taps are turned on or off.

replacement Micro-switches are available from most caravan dealers.

Alternatively most dealers should be able to supply a pressure switch as previously described. If you arranged to have one fitted, you only need to be concerned with 1 switch and its adjustment. and all the other tap wires can be cut off or forgotten

Hi again. Ref the water pressure switch , I have tried listening for the micro switch click on each tap and nothing on any of them !! I am sure now there should be a master pressure switch on the water inlet to make things simple ! On the plus side I have managed to fix the flush on the toilet and all is working now as it should and working well. it was dodgy connections on the chokky block feeding the power in to the toilet system , so have fitted male and female insulated spade connectors now and fine. When i get a pressure switch is it just wired to live and earth from anywhere or in the pump line electrics ?

Thanks Janner

Panic over !! I took the drawers out under the sink to investigate the wiring , if any , going to the micro switches, and yes there was !! but sadly some bodger had taped the wires together and they had fallen apart , so new spade terminals , insulated of course fitted and guess what ? Running as it should , so a very productive day indeed, well chuffed

Thanks Janner
