Reclining Chairs - which to buy?

The trouble is... I'm spoilt for choice.

Should I have a detachable foot rest

Should I have a moulded 'pillow' on the back of the chair?

Do I really want to splash out on Lafuma chairs or are Hi Gear just as comfortable?

I'd appreciate anyone's opinion on this

Go to a store and try them the sort one person may find comfortable may not suit someone of a different build. Last year we set out to buy a pair of Lafuma chairs but when we sat in them did not like them so we went down the row of chairs till we found ones we did like, a bit like goldilocks. We ended up with some similar to lafuma but cheaper and have been very pleased.

Had the same problem a few years back. Solved it buy buying Crespo chairs made in Spain which are Lafuma qualtiy but made of lighter aluminium and about half the price (at least in spain).

I see these are now imported to UK by Riversway Leisure, Preston, although they don't appear to have the type we prefer which have four separate feet rather than cross bars on the ground front and back.

If you're anywhere near Preston it might be worth a visit as they have Lafuma and others too.

Hi, why not go the whole hog and get a couple of Stressless Recliners with seperate foot rests. They are Scandanavian and called 'Ekoness' or something like that. Take out your mortgage now!

Stressless are made by Ekornes but I couldn't really recommend them for caravanning! It would be difficult to get them through the door but I can confirm they are very comfortable.

Due to having a major back operation, I cannot risk sitting in a garden chair that could suddenly go back if the arms are lifted and for me a Lafuma recliner was the answer, as you can gently let it go back into the position you want and a wing on each arm, which you flip, locks & unlocks it. It is so comfortable that my husband bought one and we take them caravanning all the time. They do towelling covers too, which are great when you're covered in sun cream and saves the fabric getting marked. Look out for deals - I don't think they are expensive for the quality you get.
