Hi everyone we are embarking on a new caravan in the next 2 months and would like some recommendations of good service and reasonable priced insurers if possible

We use Caravan Guard when we had our caravan they were very reasonable price

Note neither of the two Clubs feature. Why? Because you have to be a Member.
Caravan Guard were voted best Insurer for handling Claims last year, again the Clubs were excluded.
I had a large claim with CAMC last year and it was very professionally and happily dealt with.
As said by others do read and understand all the terms and conditions, particularly on storage and security.

We have had posts from several new members recently about caravan Insurance. Sadly its impossible to tell you which insurance is best, because unlike basic car insurance there is no statutory framework that tells insurers what they have to cover. Consequently its vitally important you read the policy details to see what's included and more importantly what's not. Do not assume all policies are the same.
The other factor to research, is not how easy and cheap it is to set up, but more importantly what the companies performance is like when you have to make a claim.
Don't go by price alone, some of the cheapest policies are cheap for a reason, usually the company makes it difficult to make a claim, thus saving money.
Look out for weasel clauses like "Only whilst the caravan is hitched to the car" which means you loose some cover as soon as its uncoupled.
Some caravan policies may set a maximum weight for the trailer, which might be below the cars technical specifications for towed weight.
Tis is why its so important to read and understand the details of your policy.
Whilst their policies tend to be more expensive, both the main clubs offer realistic policies, as do some main stream insurers such as the NFU and others.

To join one of the two Clubs Insurance scheme you must be a member of that Club. The insurance covers are not open to the general public on the open market

Towergate don't cover accidental damage when detached from the towing vehicle UNLESS you pay an additional premium. So do be careful !

We are with Caravan Guard as better prices than the Caravan Club and Caravan Guard have a good reputation. If you read reviews on the insurers offering a lower price, they are all glowing reviews about how nice they were taking the money from you. What counts in our books is how they handle a claim.

Been with Caravanguard for years now. If your caravan is brand new and a Swift model,you can insure it on Swifts Supersure which is also administered by Caravanguard on behalf of Swift,
Per goods away from the caravan? Many of the sort of thing you take with you can be and often are covered by the All Risks section of your home contents insurance. Take a look.
I've done that for years - the extra premium on home insurance is much lower than the savings on the caravan insurance so saves money - and gives better cover in the sense it covers things while you're away from the caravan, eg in the car.

Caravan Club do have a good record on dealing with claims. I think Dusty had a claim paid out last year all without fuss. But agree with you even before I sold the van in 2022 their prices and CCC were at the high end and rising.
