Recommended sites around north London

Looking for recommendations for family friendly London touring caravan sites please.
We’d like to see the sights in London during October half term. We’d be travelling from Cheshire and thought possibly north London (or west London) as this would be the shortest travel time.
Was hoping to find somewhere we could easily make a short train journey in and out of London.

The CMHC have two nice sites in London. Abbeywood and Crystal Palacecsnd bith have excellent TFL transport links into the central areas. We used Crystal Palace a few times and the night bus was our way back after concerts in Hyde Park before curfews existed.

Only problem wrt your request is they aren’t on the north.
 
Be aware that if Khan gets his way both Abbey Wood and XP will be within the ULEZ zone so if you are not compliant it will cost you £12.50 per day to enter the zone.
For XP the best route for you will be M1/M25( clockwise)/M11 towards London then A12 past the Olympic Park and through the Blackwall Tunnel onto the A205 South Circular clockwise turning off (south) somewhere near the Horniman Museum onto Sydenham Hill which will bring you out opposite the site gates.
You can get a No.3 bus on Crystal Palace Parade about 300yds from the site gate which terminates on Whitehall close to Horse Guards - takes about an hour and costs £1.75. Return bus stop is opposite.
You can go by train from XP but its quite a long walk to XP station especially if it is dark and you cannot walk through XP Park.
Abbey Wood is a nice site. Go M25 over Dartford Crossing* then onto A206 towards the city until you come to some lights with a right turn A2041 to Abbey Wood station. Turn right down the hill and take first left (tight turn) as you come out of the trees - the site entrance is on the left.
*Dartford Crossing is pre or post payment and uses ANPR and is chargeable 06h-22h seven days a week. You must pay on line or at any Payment Shop before midnight on the day after you used the crossing or open an account (on line) and use the crossing as you like so long as you have enough credit! Cost is £2.50 or £2 if you have an account. Caravans are free. If you open an account and don't use it for a long time (2 years?) they will refund your credit upon request.
Abbey Wood to London is from Abbey Wood station about 10-15 mins walk from the site down the hill on the main road. The main service is on the Elizabeth Line (a.k.a. Crossrail) of which AW is one of the eastern termini. There is also South Eastern Trains which will take you to London Bridge or Cannon Street.

If you have problems getting a place for October half term then you may prefer a CL. Aldborough Farm is a sound choice and with early reservation should be fine.

We used it frequently when my mother in law was alive.

Quiet, surrounded by fields, easy access (BUT don't turn in until the electric gate is open or you will probably leave the end of your caravan sticking out into the road - motorhomes should be fine!)

NO TOILET OR SHOWER but our van has both so not important.

Mrs Rouse, the owner, has a collection of peacocks, geese etc who wander around during the day. They are taken inside at night to deny the foxes a meal!

5 minute walk to Miller & Carter Newbury Park Restaurant but absolutely no noise on the CL.

Obviously access varies depending on your side of London but for us M25, M11, A12.

The C&CC site at Chertsey could fit your requirements as it's on the West of the capital which may make your journey from Cheshire a little shorter and less fraught.
The site is about a mile from Chertsey station from where you can get into Waterloo in reasonable time (if you pick the direct trains) and there are other attractions nearby (Thorpe Park, Chessington, Legoland etc ) which may suit your family.
We stayed four years ago because I particularly wanted to go to the Brooklands Museum(s) and my wife wanted to visit RHS Wisley; the site was clean and tidy with good amenities and the wardens were helpful and friendly.

If you are a member Chertsey C&CC site is very good and easily accessible from the motorway. With the CAMH and further out Commons Wood at Wellwyn Garden City worked well for us, Wyatts Covert in Buckinghamshire is worthwhile and just off the motorway. If you are not a club member though their sites become very expensive.
 
We did Abbey Wood in August 2019. Straightforward to get to and the site has a surprisingly rural feel to it! Train station is a casual 10 minute walk away and the train is a 25 to 30 minute ride into London. We stayed for four nights and saw a lot but five or six nights would have been better.

The number 3 bus now goes to Victoria instead of Horseguards,you need to get off just over Lambeth Bridge and walk around the corner to Millbank and catch the 87.
 
We did Abbey Wood at Easter this year. Great site - feels v.rural - urban foxes and green parakeets visit most days! (Parakeets v.noisy - the foxes like to ‘borrow’ shoes out of awnings too 🤣). Having the Elizabeth Line 10mins walk away is great - 20mins and you are in central London.
 
This might be worth try Theobalds Park C&CC site it has 14 acres of woodland and camping areas toilets and showers lovely dog walk area yet only half -hour train ride to London
Trains depart from Turkey street and Waltham Cross .
