HI All whilst draining caravan last weekend I noticed underneath the van was a length of black pipe with a red bung on the end, I left this and didnt open the bung as i wasnt sure what it was for . I unscrewed the drain down on the carver water heater and that drained the hot and cold water system. What does this red bung do???? Is it best to leave it alone as it felt quite loose???

Your help on this would be much appreciated

Hi Ian,

The red bung is the water drain for the low laying pipes and is of the push fit variety, so will feel "loose".

To operate the device, there is a collar on the end of the fitting which needs pulling backwards as you then pull the red bung out, drain the water, there will not be much, then replace the bung.It is red to try and avoid users losing it!!!.

Thanks Mike, just had a look at it now, sounds a great idea to change it as it is so fiddly and tight to undo!!

Many Thanks

Just remember to keep the red bung in a safe place in case of problems with the tap system.
