Josie,

We got our reich mover 3 years ago WITH a handle.....this is quite clearly shown in the instruction manual as being part of the equipment.

Why not contact Reich and ask their advice.

just collected my new caravan last tuesday and although a fan of powerwheel movers the dealer only fits reich or carver, we opted for the reich comfort and was also surprised to find that we did not get a dedicated winding handle especially since the steady handle sends your knuckles very close to the floor with obvious consequenses if not carefull. now concidering having the electric winder option fitted as its a complete pain in the rear winding the mover on, power wheels version of one movement is much better.

also noted whilst on site this weekend we saw a bessacarr twin axle and it had two reich movers fitted one to the front axle and one to the rear, found this very strange as all the other companies only require one mover on twins as we did on our laser and ace 590, the additional weight must have reduced the payload by quite some margin.

I have a TA reich, they will move the van in a much tighter area than the other companies. I am pretty sure I'm right in saying they are about half the weight of other versions too (more expensive though :( ) I use my drill to put the mover on and off with a low torque setting and it works fine. My only criticism is the low ground clearance otherwise 10/10

I am having a Reich Comfort fitted to my Abbey today(very excited). Even now though, I am sitting wondering if I have chosen the best mover.

Some say they sit too low, others say they are very slow, and other folks love them!

In the end, I went with the recommendation of the company that are fitting them. They would have fitted any make or model (I originally called to order the Truma SE), so I am hoping that there were good, sound engineering reasons for fitting the Reich... may be a bit of good old vorsprung durch technik!!

I was told though, that these could be easily engaged using a good quality cordless drill, which is what I use for my steadies.

Here's hoping that thr trade off of weak back against weak bank account is worth it! :)

Hi alistair, we have just returned from our first outing with the new van and reich mover and found it to be ok in that it did the job. however it is by no means as good as the powerwheel i had on my last vans, it is supposed to have a soft start but is far too jerky for delicate manouvers, it is far too low to the floor and did catch on a speed ramp on site and it is a bit slower to move the van than the powerwheel, other than this as i say it does the job and looks quite tidy, only used it once but already decided i would not buy another as my experiance of powerwheel was better.

I have a Truma soft start fitted for the last 3 months on my Bailey Discovery 200. Works like a dream, I could have sold a few if I'd had spare ones with me on the sites. Took about 4 hours to fit myself, most time was spent jacking the van up.

In use the movement is millimeter perfect, although on an incline the van will tend to very slowly roll down it at about 1 mm per sec, rather than stay still. Easy to beep it forward though, and always in control.

Upgraded the battery to 110 AH. Cross-actuation bar fitted as well means you can engage and release from one side with the van next to a wall.

All vans should come with this fitted as standard. Watch out for small stones getting in the way of the rollers, they ping off and get chewed up with a nasty grinding noise.

Hi,

we had the Reich fitted last March and are pleased with its performance. It is slower than others but this can be an advantage on rough ground or slopes. We have found no problems with the soft start which is sensitive enough for hitching up. Also by using both motors together ypucan spin the avn around its centre point. It is lighter than some of the others and the new alum rollers should make it lighter still. It does sit lower than others but we have had no problems with clearance over ramps or going onto ferries.

I agree with you clive that for hitching up and forward and reverse the mover the mover is fine, where we found the problem was with turning the van. We have only a very small amount of room to get our van through the narrowist part of our drive which is only about 4 inches wider than the van, the drive then opens out in to a very large area, what we found was that if we tried to slightly move the van either left or right the soft start did not appear to work very well and the van moved quite violantly almost hitting the house wall, this never happened with the powerwheel which had a very slow start up. it may be that the mover is faulty in some way but it does appear to be much more controlable in a straight line. Mine did come with new aluminium rollers that do appear to be very good though.
