Many thanks for your informative reply.

I must admit I am concerned abput the weight of my Bug, what with the engine at the back, I am most concerned about the lack of steering from the single front wheel. I am thinking about making some concrete blocks and place them in the front boot over the single wheel to hopefully increase tyre contact to the road and steering feel.

Is this a good thing to do?

You could try Waltling Engineers (around St. Albans, I think). They used to design and make one-off towbars, but EU regulations may have put a stop to that. Be warned - the kerb weight of your Bond is only 395Kgs. Best practice states that you should only tow 85% of kerb weight.

About 10 years ago I saw a Reliant Robin on a site, it was parked next to quite a big old caravan(70s/80s).It had a 'Windslammer' fitted to the roof so must have towed the van there.I didn't see it leave but I remember think at the time 'no way!'.By the time you fit your awning ect in your front boot I don't think you will require concrete blocks.

I have converted my bug into a two berth caravan, the new white paint job looks a treat complete with aqua stripes. I have taken the engine out and use that as a locker for my stuff. The brilliant bit is that i tow it with a a suzuki 1000cc and sidecar, the sidecar I have converted with a cassette toilet. I am currently about to fit a status for the tv.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes made to measure blinds as i need to fit them to the windscreen. After that its a made to measure awning!

We used to tow with a Robin we fitted it with twin exhausts so that we could use it as a wheelbarrow when not towing

regarding a caravan for a reliant, well i use a portafold regularly and visit many classic & steam & microcar shows. theres a photo of my outfit in this quarters reliant owners club mag. my towcar is a rialto 850 cc and i dont keep local either, i often go to tenby via the black mountains to visit family. at 50 mpg & 55 cruise im chufft. a bugs to light though, go to teardrop site and make one. = paul. nottm.

But BMW's are rubbish, their value is dropping, satisfaction is getting lower and after owning both a 318IS and an M3 I can safly say that I would never waste my money again.

Also, rear wheel drive? come on, every other manufaturer decided that shat a S*"T idea years ago. move with the times. Even their sorry excuse for a 4x4 has been laughed out of every off road club in the world. In fact, BMW are the main chelsea tractor, so buying any of their products just fuels the whole debate.

Time to get a life Kanga, and stop this continual attack on any user of this forum who mentions anything you don't like. I look forward to the day you finally get your account removed. If I was the mod on this forum, I would have already placed a complaint with your ISP for abuse and had your internet connection removed.

Crikey, a ban from the internet because you don't like 4x4s! That's a tad harsh is it not? Thank the good lord you're not in any place of power.

I don't think Kanga has broken any rules other than not agreing with you.

P.S. rear wheel drive cars negate the power slid you can get from front wheel drives. A different driving technique is needed for both types but both have there good and bad points.

While Kanga is here, this forum has next to no credability in the caravan community. it is only a small group who are keeping it alive (I include you in this Pete) and debate is always good.

Time the idiot was kicked so we can get back to discussions with people who actually have caravans

This riduculous post was started by one individual on a mission. Reading it back now several months on is quite interesting now that we know Kanga and Daventura were one and the same!!

The lengths this poor sad individual went to to try to make out that he was not really alone!!

You have got to feel sorry for him really!

He still craves our attention even now

Oh and by the way - I actually like BMW's but down south they are mainly owned by pimps and drug dealers so - not quite the right image for most of us - so sales are struggling I hear.
