Interested to know others feelings about posts that are of benefit to forum members being removed by over zealous moderators, i was trying to post information i discovered about a dealer group who are openly boasting on the internet about the huge profits that they make from caravan/motorhome buyers, i gave information as to how to view these claims, i feel this information is valid on a forum such as this as it allows buyers to make an informed choice as to who they deal with, without this type of information they are putting buyers at risk of becoming victims of companies that go out of business.

Hello Trevor,

Without seeing exactly what was posted it is very difficult to pass a considered reply on that specific instance.

In general the moderators do a good job in ensuring the content of posts complies with the forum rules.

I have never come across an instance where the moderators did not have due cause to remove a post, so I have to conclude there was something in the posts that you refer to that was either contentious or may have been factually wrong.

Just in case you have not read the forum rules or etiquette, look at blue box with blue writing, and click on the 'Forum etiquette ' or paste the following into your browser:-

Hi Trevor,

It's a difficult thing to verify someone's intentions, so the moderators can only work with the words that you've used.

If they deem that it's broken the rules then I'm perfectly fine with that. I'd rather a few posts were deleted, preferably without upsetting anyone, than potentially lose the forum.

Afterall it's not our forum, we are just lucky enough to have it and to use it.

Cheers,

Alex.

Trevor, could I suggest that you just post a link to the place on the internet, without giving an comment. It is then up to other forum members to come to their own conclusion.

If the company concerned are publishing on the internet how well they are doing in the current crisis the this is of interest to forum members

I'd love to know who they are.

If they are making that much money there must room to barter hard for a good deal perhaps??

Cheers

Alan

Hello Trevor

Looking back through my notes I see that we've travelled this path before where you have named a company on this forum and attempted to influence the decisions of caravan buyers as to whether or not to use the company that you are so intent on naming.

On the previous occasion you mentioned that you were connected with the caravan sales industry.

I see from the link that you have since provided that those commenting have anonymous usernames so the provenance of their comments cannot be established.

They could be anybody.

My decision to remove your earlier post was taken because by naming the company in the way that you did on this forum you exposed this forum to a potentially litigious situation.

The information that you say is valid in your earlier post is speculative. You use the word 'claims' yourself and claims do not constitute fact.

Any claims, boasts, speculation or even hard fact which is posted on another forum is their business but without actual hard evidence with those commenting supplying names and addresses etc to the administrators of THIS forum we are not allowed to reproduce their comments on here.

I trust that this will clarify the situation for you.

I had to have a look at the link you provided trvor as i wanted to try and understand your motives, what i found very interesting was the following quote from the message boards on the site in question,

"what difference does it make to you who is running the company? Nick or Trevor??".

Care to comment ?.

Fair point icemaker, i can see where you are going with your suspicions, but alas nothing underhand here, other than the coincidence that the aforementioned trevor (who is the ceo of the company) shares the same name as my forum identity, which happens to be the name of my labrador, trevor.

It seems that the link has gone so my curiosity is curious

Some removal of postings can be really annoying

It is possible to avoid websites that become too nit picking and I do that although I can not say if this was the case here as the evidence is missing!!
