renault laguna ii 1.8 petrol towcar or not ???

hi new to caravanning just wondered if anybody has used or using this model for towing at present or in past or could offer any advice. viewing caravans at the moment and dont want to purchase just yet if car is not suitable. thanks

Martin,

I had to change as my Laguna(1.9dci 128bhp) was not heavy enough to tow my caravan. Renault only state the weight with driver. where as most manufactures give it with 4 occupants and luggage. Don't get me wrong it is a cracking car if you have the correct van within the weight limits. Look at Whattowcar.com excellent website might give you a few options as to what you can tow. You might want to look at somelightweight vans, there are lots out there. Good luck.

TBH, i dont think the 1.8i will have much torque so unless you choose a very small/light van, it will struggle.

Do you already have a tow bar, if so, could you borrow a van to test the pulling power?

I used to have a 1.9DTI Laguna which was OK but not great.

hi thanks for your answers gents, think i'm going to look at changing the car for a volvo v70 or 850 as they get quite good reviews allround.
