A bottle fell from a shelf onto the plasitic wash basin of my 2009 Swift Charisma. It has caused a crack about 4/5 cms long. Has anyone successfully repaired this sort of damage before?
I was thinking of running a fine bead of superglue along the crack but would welcome anyone's actual experience of this problem

Araldite clear pressed into the crack using a plastic glove. Then use some acrylic polish to try and restore surface. Also smooth some araldite underneath to strengthen the area. Alternatively Caravan Medic have a good reputation for repairs to internal and external plastics. Or try a breakers.

I always thought that CT1 was a sealant with strong adhesive properties and used for construction type jobs. A bit like Gripfast and all of the others. I think what the OP requires is an adhesive that will bond the cracked sink which requires one that is strong across what will be a very small surface area. He would then need to reinforce the back surface with something that adheres to the plastic of the sink and which is strong. Aradite would do the job, as would one of the two part epoxy putties.

Hi oldagedtraveller1. All good advice above only one other thing I would suggest.that is each end of the crack drill very small hole this will stop it going any further as it maybe that when you are travelling the twist etc could possible make things worse .I had a similar thing in the shower I dropped a bottle of gel and cracked the tray i was lucky enough to have cracked it where I could drill it and use sealant . As I said you have plenty to choose from but drill those holes

Like dusytdog says, when I repair cracks etc on my motorcycle plastics I use a soldering iron and plastic cable ties as a filler rod a good solid repair, practice on some old bit of plastic and you will soon become a plastic welder master
